Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the part time position of Recreational Yoga Instructor at the LeBrun Recreation Centre, in the Recreation Programming division of Parks & Recreation.

This position reports to the Community Recreation Coordinator at the LeBrun Recreation Centre and would be instructing Parent & Baby Yoga programs for babies and infants up to 18 months old . DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises sessions to ensure the safety of all participants;
Responsible for developing a specific program plan;
Supports persons with disabilities in programs when required;
Responsible for greeting participants, leading activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, providing excellent customer service to participants and patrons;
Responsible for organizing equipment and supplies and preparing for activities;
Carries out emergency procedures and provides First Aid treatment as required;
Carries out assigned duties in an effective and responsible manner;
Reports to the Client Services Manager at the Sackville Sports Stadium.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience :

Experience working or volunteering with the public in a recreational setting (if applicable);

Applicable fitness certification in group fitness / personal training (i.e : CYA-RYT 200; Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) Foundations) and / or certified in area of specialty (i.e Mommy & Baby Yoga Training; Postnatal Yoga Training; RPYT, etc.)

Certification training specific to Yoga must be provided

Experience working or volunteering instructing Yoga in a recreational setting

Applicants must have current certification in Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR or willing to obtain

Applicants must complete screening through a Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry if applicable

Applicants must be willing to obtain all required training, including HIGH FIVE training and WHMIS training if applicable.

Security Clearance Requirements : Selected applicants must complete an employment screening check, including a Child Abuse Registry Check and a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

WORK STATUS : Casual / Seasonal –September 2024 - June 2025

HOURS OF WORK : Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule. Would include 1 to 2 morning classes per week, yoga will be each season.

SALARY : $36.20 per hour (Non-Union)

WORK LOCATIONS : LeBrun Recreation Centre (36 Holland Ave., Bedford)
