Job Summary The Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) offers degrees tailored to match individual interests in a high-tech discipline at the forefront of innovation. Staff work with faculty members to help build a foundation for student success as students prepare, through academics and research, for a career in one of the world's hottest growth industries. Reporting to the Director of Engagement & Communications, the Student Engagement Manager plays an essential role in achieving the Faculty of Computer Science's strategic plan by developing and executing the student transition and engagement plan for all current students across undergraduate and graduate programs in the Faculty. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual Student Engagement operational plan and strategy, in collaboration with faculty members, staff, student societies and Student Affairs, that creates programming, opportunities, events and activities that will improve upon the student experience.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of pre-arrival and orientation programming for all new computer science students.
  • Plan and coordinate student-facing events in collaboration with faculty members, staff, and central student services such as the Bissett Centre and the SITE Co-op Office.
  • Recruit and supervise two part-time Student Engagement Assistants and several student ambassadors to leverage student programming.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and report on a comprehensive international and equity deserving student support programming strategy. Identify pathways of support for international and equity deserving student transition from post-secondary education to the workplace.
  • Act as the point of contact for international and equity deserving students looking for support, resources, and information within the Faculty.

Note The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines. Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with three to five years' related experience with a preference given to candidates with experience working in a post-secondary environment (or an equivalent combination of training an experience).
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, strategic thinking,
  • Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, verbal and written.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications particularly with MS Office, email, and social media is required.
  • Experience in some or all of the following : public speaking, event planning, marketing, project management.
  • Assets

  • Experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Direct knowledge of post-secondary education and computer science programs in Canada and Internationally.
  • Masters degree.
