Primary Responsibilities :
- Efficiently and professionally evaluate and treat all injuries and illnesses within the scope of practice to both employees and contractors
- Manage WSIB claims, modified work plans, worker rehabilitation and related correspondence for both Occupational and Non-Occupational events.
- Manage short term and long-term disability benefits and follow up with employees and supervisors in return-to-work plans.
- Assist departments with implementing and evaluating return to work options for workers requiring modifications.
- Organize and administer worker health education, and counselling services, including EAP and worker Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation programs.
- Complete and / or coordinate various workplace testing programs including but not limited to Respirator Fit testing, Drug and Alcohol testing, Spirometry and Audiometric testing.
- Keep complete and accurate employee medical records and ensure confidentiality.
- Liaise with outside health organizations.
- Compile statistical reports, as requested.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
- Champion employee health and wellness initiatives at site.
- Conduct Standard First Aid and CPR C Training and Mental Health First Aid Training onsite.
- Support the Employee Wellness Program as required.
- Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Q ualifications and Experience :
Be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of OntarioHold a designation in Occupational Health Nursing or willingness to acquire would be an asset.BScN Designation or College DiplomaValid Standard & / or Advanced First Aid / CPR certificate Instructor Certification would be an asset.Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a RN or; minimum of 2 year or experience as a OHN, in heavy industry environment.Ability to plan and schedule programs and activitiesThe individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self-motivation and strong organizational skills.Certified in various testing procedures, equipment, and methods (audiometric, drug & alcohol, vision-screening, respirator fit testing, immunizations, IV competency, etc.)Very familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants, Ontario Human Rights legislation.Good communication skills, both verbal and written along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilitiesComfortable with public speaking in large groupsCompetent computer skills.Adapts well to constant change.Self-starter who can anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision.Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred.
