Senior Data Engineer
As part of the Adrenaline team, join our Producing Engineering team to develop high scale data products that align with our our goals.
You will collaborate with teams, including leadership, architects, analysts, product management, project management, and data scientists, to understand and address data requirements.
You will report to the Director of Data Architecture. What you will do :
- Understand users and use cases by partnering with the Product Management and Architecture team, applying that knowledge to scoping and building engineering features.
- Develop, and launch efficient and reliable data pipelines to move and transform data, handling both large and small amounts.
- Have the capability to interpret and construct code, and provide insightful feedback during code reviews, focusing on elements such as scalability, performance, and adherence to best practices.
- Identify, collaborate and plan engineering industry best practices with senior engineers to solve data engineering problems and opportunities, using ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques for structured and unstructured data sources.
- Design and implement complex features, including multi-layered data workflows.
- Deploy data quality checks in collaboration with quality engineering and data governance teams to uphold high-quality data standards.
- Uphold a high-quality codebase by writing and reviewing performant, scalable, and well-tested code to deploy using source control products such as GitLab / GitHub.
- Design and configure job scheduling tools like Airflow and GitLab to improve processes.
- Maintain data engineering and architecture standards within the team and the wider organisation, promoting a culture of innovation, and prototyping.
- Adapt code and pipelines to accommodate new data sources and requirements, maintaining Agile and adaptable engineering practices.
- Improve existing pipelines and maintain all domain-related data pipelines for efficiency and reliability.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements in collaboration with data architects, including automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
- Create technical documentation, such as data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and engineering documentation.
Qualifications :
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of data engineering experience.
- 8+ years of experience in ETL orchestration and workflow management tools.
- 8+ years of experience with columnar databases ( Snowflake, GCP)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python & SQL
- Must have experience in DBT, Spark, and Airflow.
- Experience with data modelling, warehousing, and building ETL / ELT / EtLT pipelines.
- Knowledge or Experience in Data mesh and Data Lake House Designs.
- Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners, ability to simplify and summarise complex constructs.

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) :
º $133,400 - $193,200 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI / QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental / adoption leave), extended health / dental / vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees.
Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
