JOB PURPOSE

Reporting into the Director, Digital Solutions Delivery, the role of the Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for planning and managing the successful end-to end delivery of system solutions in accordance with timelines and budget.

The role will include running meetings, supporting the prioritization of product backlog, collaborating on requirement documentation and unblocking barriers in support of the team’s progress and success.

This position is responsible in promoting a self-organised and high-value product team. The position requires the incumbent to communicate and collaborate closely with the Development Team, Business Leaders and Executive Leadership.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIIES

Project Strategy & Planning

  • Ensures understanding of project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objective in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion to achieve desired end state.
  • Determine the frequency and content of project meeting, status reports, risks and issues review to ensure adequate visibility.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle in meeting delivery objective.
  • Create and / or analyze business requirements documents and project timelines to validate expectations.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Guide team in time estimating practices and facilitates team estimates to build in-dept delivery schedule.
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and / or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments, if necessary, to ensure a committed and well-resourced project team.
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company to ensure a committed and well-resourced project team.

Project Delivery & Deployment

  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary to limit overspends.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and associated tracking methodology to monitor against expected results.
  • Facilitate daily stand-up / project meeting, planning, delivery review to ensure proper visibility and remove barriers quickly to enable progress.
  • Monitor every aspect of the project progression, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas to maintain a successful delivery progression.
  • Track project tasks and milestones and manage the on-time provision of project members’ deliverables for schedule adherence.
  • Continuously mitigate and proactively address risk and issues to ensure project remains on schedule / budget.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Project Operational Management

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of system solutions, establish and control project constraints and scope.
  • Manage relationships and communication with all project stakeholders including internal / external customers, suppliers and third parties.
  • Work with the team to manage project conflicts / challenges, project roadblocks and dynamic business requirements to keep progression running at a high performance.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide clear ownership for and visibility of the resolution of all project risks and issues.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and vendors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Project Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Lead team efforts in relentless improvement, define and implement improvement to increase the velocity and quality of delivery.
  • Maintain team data and progression information in project management software (, OnePlan, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, JIRA, etc.

  • Develop and support the implementation of framework and processes.
  • Define project success criteria and ensure the tracking of the benefit realization
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Formal Education & Certification

  • College diploma or university degree in computer science or similar, and / or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
  • Certification in Project Management an advantage.

Knowledge & Experience

  • 5-7+ years’ direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and stakeholders to provide the required visibility.
  • Prepare and present high-quality status and project communication documents (, status updates, steering presentations, exit reports) for stakeholder visibility and signoff.
  • Plan and coordinate production releases to ensure a smooth deployment with no operational impact.
