Reporting to the AVP & Pricing Actuary, the Director & Pricing Actuary, UL, Term and CI will be part of the BMO Life Assurance (BMOLA) Life Insurance Pricing Team. This role will be supported by two Actuarial Analysts and will work closely with Product, Risk, Valuation and Technology to manage the pricing and profitability of UL, Term and CI.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Pricing Individual UL, Term and CI insurance products following BMOLA Product Design and Pricing Guideline
  • Leading and coordinating the pricing process from product design to assumption setting, modeling, creating a pricing report and approval processes
  • Partnering with Product, Risk and Valuation to identify areas of improvement in UL, Term, and CI product offering that support profitable business growth
  • Responsibility for quarterly New Business profitability reporting and planning for UL, Term, and CI
  • Providing sales support and business expertise in the production of customised insurance quotes for high net worth clients by working closely with Underwriting and Reinsurance partners
  • Supporting Technology with testing and actuarial sign offs for illustration and administration systems changes
  • Identifying sensitivities within products to ensure key risks are understood and mitigated
  • Monitoring regulatory changes and implementing strategies to meet requirements
  • Ensuring new and existing pricing models follow the model validation and change management frameworks
  • Reviewing contract wording and marketing materials as needed
  • Leveraging data and analytics to deepen knowledge and optimize business decisions

Qualifications :

  • University degree in mathematics or actuarial science
  • FSA / FCIA with solid actuarial working experience, preferably in pricing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational and project management skills
  • Knowledge of Reinsurance
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 and LICAT
  • Experience with assumption setting and experience monitoring
  • In-depth knowledge of AXIS actuarial modeling software
  • Ability to coach and mentor actuarial analysts
  • Salary : $92,400.00 - $171,600.00

    The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
