As an integral part of the project team, the Intermediate Project Designer is a developmental role that provides support to design team projects and actively learns and works to the Bennett Design interior design project processes : Discover, Plan, Implement, Monitor and Close, including Pure Design™ – with the high level of detail and documentation that our firm is known for. While continuing to provide project support, once assimilated, this role begins leading small projects and take more responsibility in executing contract management activities.
Project Work
- Work to deliver team project goals through proficiency in the Discover, Plan and Implement phases of the Project Plan methodology and works to become familiar with the Monitor and Close phases.
- Introduction to site verifications
- Assist with working drawings and drawing mark ups
- Complete project set up, ensuring AutoCAD drawings are site accurate
- Participate in the initial concept development with the project team
- Assist with sourcing and ordering finishes, materials, and meeting with vendors
- Assist in preparation of renderings, initial and final plans
Contract Management
Assist with project work according to Project Plan and the preparation of all change notices and instructionsAssist with shop drawing reviews, deficiency reviews and reporting and subcontractor coordinationAssist with Photo ShootQuality Assurance
Continue to become more adept in Building Code compliance and its application to various projectsWork to confidently interpret regulations, procedures, plans, drawings, and specificationsLearn principles of Risk Management as it relates to managing design projectsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Interior Design from a recognized accredited College or UniversityStudying for or has the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ)Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) membership (if applicable)Must become familiar with and develop knowledge of building code requirements, laws, standards, and regulations as it relates to project work, with the ability to interpret and applyMust become familiar with and develop knowledge of the interior design process from Discovery to Project Close Out phasesMust become familiar and develop knowledge of products and materials and their use and application for project workFamiliar with building systemsLearn to incorporate a workplace strategy approach to projectsLearn principles of project budgeting and schedulingTravel Requirements : In this role you are required to occasionally travel to the client site for site visits, site measures, and deficiency walk-throughs. Travel includes to and from job sites through the province of Ontario and throughout Canada.
Experience
Zero (0) to (10) years experience in interior design
