Job Description

The Mechanic will be responsible for working on over 100 pieces of equipment such as power sweepers, pressure washers, and salt spreaders. They will be performing regular planned maintenance, urgent repairs, and projects such as equipment rebuilds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all equipment on a day-to-day basis in two shops.
• Perform a variety of tasks including urgent repairs and regular scheduled maintenance.
• Conduct truck rebuilds, including street sweepers, water trucks, hydro excavators, and small engine repairs.
• Handle seasonal tasks such as snow clearing in winter and engine rebuilds.
• Perform propane conversions for high technical candidates.
• Tackle breakdowns and perform preventive maintenance.
• Ensure general maintenance and repairs of contractor-owned equipment.
• Adapt to changing work needs and handle dirty equipment.
• Service and clean equipment for other users.
• Manage and maintain a wide variety of equipment from small to large, including sweepers, vacuumers, pickup trucks, and water trucks.

Work Environment

The company operates two shops providing services throughout the lower mainland 24 / 7, 365 days a year. They offer power sweeping, power scrubbing, pressure washing, line painting, water services, catch basin cleaning, graffiti removal, litter control, snow removal, and salting services. The work environment involves handling over 100 pieces of equipment ranging from brand new to 15 years old, including salt spreaders, sweepers, and pressure washers. The work is dynamic and requires the ability to switch gears easily. It involves dirty work, and mechanics need their own basic tools. Training would be provided in the primary shop, and apprenticeships have successfully moved candidates into Red Seal Ticket positions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65769.60 - $104000.00 / yr.
