Job Summary
Mandate :
Reporting to the Associate Director, Maintenance and Operations, the Purchasing Officer is responsible for coordinating procurement activities and managing inventory for Facilities Management (FMGT). The incumbent ensures efficient purchasing operations, compliance with university policies, and optimal inventory management to support maintenance and operational needs across campus.
As a key liaison between FMGT, vendors, and internal stakeholders, the Purchasing Officer streamlines procurement processes, negotiates favorable contract terms, and ensures timely delivery of goods and services. This role is instrumental in maintaining an organized and cost-effective purchasing system while upholding UVic’s financial and operational standards.

Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree or technical diploma in a relevant field (e.g., supply chain management, business administration, or logistics) with specialized training in procurement (e.g., SCMP, CPPM), and a minimum of 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a facilities management or public sector environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
