Reports to : Manager of Supportive Care

Salary : $ – $ hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)

Position Summary

As an integral member of the Department of Cancer Rehabilitation and Survivorship, the Registered Kinesiologist is a Regulated Health Professional and works as part of a team to support the UHN Supportive Care Program.

Duties

  • Assessment : Collaborates with patients, their families and other health care professionals to assess the patient’s physical and functional limitations and strengths
  • Treatment Planning : Implements an individualized treatment plan, in consultation with the patient, their families and the interdisciplinary team, which focuses on achieving the optimal functional outcome
  • Implementation / intervention : Implements and coordinates a treatment plan with the goal of improving physical functioning, managing health conditions, pain and preventing further decline in patients, in collaboration with the patient, their families and the interdisciplinary team. Participate in group exercise sessions in person and virtually
  • Evaluation : Examines and evaluates the extent to which positive rehabilitative outcomes have been achieved, at each stage of treatment
  • Research : Performs duties related to kinesiology and interdisciplinary research activities
  • Quality Improvement / Administration : Performs quality improvement and administrative duties to ensure the efficient and effective operation of working environment
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of a bachelors degree in kinesiology or recognized equivalent
  • At least 5 years of practical and related experience
  • Experience in managing oncology patients
  • Experience coordinating with an interdisciplinary health care team in a multi-site academic health care setting is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and creative problem-solving skills
  • Interest in producing written patient educational materials is an asset
  • Current registration and member in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (COKO)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada
  • Membership with Professional Association ( Ontario Kinesiology Association), preferred
