As a Service Support Set-Up Serviceperson, you will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and repairing emergency equipment in a variety of Calgary Police Service vehicles : Primary duties include :
- Install and test emergency equipment such as master communication controllers, emergency lights, sirens, in-car digital video and prisoner barriers.
- Install decal packages on police vehicles.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and perform electrical, non-electrical and electronic repairs on equipment installed on marked and unmarked police vehicles, including reviewing or drafting wiring diagrams.
- Collaborate with other Fleet Services employees on how to install and troubleshoot equipment.
AWorking Conditions : Work within an automotive facility with potential exposure to vehicle exhaust, fluids and other chemicals.
Usage of hand and power tools. Moving police vehicles outside in various weather conditions as well as within an indoor facility.
Movement of heavy equipment within the shop, including lifting and installing various components. Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent GED and a minimum of 1 year automotive related experience.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing domestic and / or import light duty vehicles is required.
- Above average working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems including creating complex wiring looms; integration into factory wiring and controllers;
and installing accessories.
- Previous experience working directly with the installation of specialty equipment including emergency lighting, communication radios and other police equipment is required.
- Valid Full Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) and a Driving Abstract with no more than 6 demerit points (current within 3 months) and no current suspensions or charges pending.
