WHAT YOU DO :

As an experienced Civil Superintendent, you will be responsible for our Abbotsford project's civil duties. It is a challenging site on mountainous terrain which includes rock blasting for future development, earthworks, utilities, roadworks, and quantity take-offs as some of the important civil day-to-day operations you would be driving from start to completion. You are someone who thrives on leading projects and delivering them on time and within budget by focusing on cost, safety, quality, and management.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Plan, supervise and execute civil construction project from start to finish according to plans and specifications ensuring schedules, safety and quality standards are met and projects are within budget.
  • Develop, maintain, and drive the construction schedule in conjunction with the project team; ensuring project milestones and completion dates are met, providing project schedules with trades as required.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent for Development.
  • Develop and maintain open communication with the teams. Build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Plan and coordinate suppliers, material quantities and ensuring proper equipment is available as required.
  • Prepare work plans and schedules to determine manpower levels, ensuring schedules support the project requirements.
  • Hire, train, supervise and provide leadership and guidance to the team. Supervise employees and sub-contractors, manage performance of team and trades.
  • Ensure health and safety is a priority on site, ensuring regulations are met, and environmental protection of the project.
  • Troubleshoot site issues, examine field conditions, correct inaccuracies and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Prepare daily project reports, review and approve timesheets for team.
  • Coordinate RFI's, SI's, and drawing changes.
  • Run site meetings with internal and external stakeholders, subcontractors, and staff.
  • Run Quantity Take-Offs and assist with budgeting for the project.

WHO YOU ARE :

  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a Civil Superintendent.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to supervise and guide staff in high-pressure and fast-paced work environments while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong organization and planning skills, proactive and can accurately build look-ahead schedules.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry and business operations, including construction specifications, contract language, cost management processes and project planning.
  • Working experience using GPS Survey.
  • Knowledge of alternative civil methods – plowing and trenching.
  • Knowledgeable with complex situations, experience troubleshooting and finding solutions to field challenges.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office – primarily Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Degree in Engineering, construction management, or similar field considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with CAD and Jonas software is a plus.
  • Compensation : CAD 90,000-120,000.
