Role Mission & SummaryHalifax's busiest and most dynamic waterfront attraction : Ambassatours Gray Line, is seeking engaging and hardworking individuals to join our team on our fleet of tour vessels. These vessels include the Silva (200 passenger), the Harbour Queen I (200 passenger), and the Kawartha Spirit (200 passenger). Our team delight in sharing highlights of the city and harbour with our guests while delivering a taste of life on the water. Our operation runs from May through October. We have an irregular schedule including operating days, evenings, nights, and weekends 7 days a week.Ambassatours provides a positive and inclusive work culture that is dedicated to promoting job satisfaction and growth. Come join us and contribute to making a difference in people's daily lives and showcase what our team, vessels and city have to offer.ResponsibilitiesCore Job Responsibilities & DutiesManage, maintain and serve our guests on an onboard bar with various types of beverages and concession foods.Work as a team with all onboard staff to provide the best possible guest experience.Stock vessels with required supplies and beveragesTake debit / credit payments and handle transactions through Clover POS system.Understand and become knowledgeable of bar menu offerings for guests.Complete daily checklists, inventory counts, cash outs, and reportsEmpty and clean tables, counters, and workstations of dirty dishesWelcome, greet and engage with guests.Provide commentary to passengers when and if required (training and material provided)Participate in marine emergency drills and training.Assist with safe embarking and disembarking of guests.Monitor passenger and vessel safety.Handle lines while arriving and departing from wharf.Cleaning : Hose and scrub decks, vacuum, sweep, clean washrooms, empty garbage, maintain bar cleanliness dailyAttending team meetings when required.Competencies : To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following skill sets to perform the essential functions of this position.Communications - the individual must speak clearly so listeners can understand and recognize.Customer service - the individual manages difficult client / customer situations, responds promptly to customer needs, solicits customer feedback to improve service, responds to requests for service and assistance and meets commitments.Problem solving - the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully.Physical demands - the individual occasionally may have the ability to move or lift up to 50lbs.Quality control - the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors their own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance.Dependability - the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.Safety and Security - the individual observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.The individual should also be considerate, outgoing, and kind, have a sense of humor, and the ability to work with will all ages, including seniors and children.QualificationsExperience RequirementsCustomer service experience.Experience working with children.Experience working on the water : sailing and other pleasure craft considered an assetComfort with public speaking, in providing commentary to guests.First Aid considered an assetMED considered an assetAbility to communicate in French considered an assetMarine maintenance experience : painting, varnishing, etc.About Ambassatours Gray Line Ltd.For over three decades, Ambassatours Gray Line has stood as a leader of excellence in sightseeing in Canada's East Coast, offering award winning land and water tours across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.
