Our dedicated HIS team will collaborate closely with our trusted HIS vendor (Epic) and internal subject matter experts to develop a fully functional system that will empower us to deliver exceptional care and services.
The Epic Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining data warehouses creating effective data models and delivering highquality reports dashboards and visual analytics to support decisionmaking processes. The BI Developer is tasked with crafting scalable solutions that align with organizational goals and assist in datadriven decisionmaking while also exploring opportunities to leverage machine learning techniques for enhanced predictive analytics and insights. This role is part of the HIS project structure with a key responsibility to design deliver and sustain our systems to address both clinical and nonclinical needs ensuring the HIS is utilized effectively and efficiently in patient care.
Accountabilities :
- Collaborate with stakeholders in providing support to all data analysis
- Perform data assessment on all results and resolve business related issues; coordinate with IT and business to ensure accuracy on all data before extraction and manipulation
- Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting longterm solutions
- Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy
- Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects
- Maintain conceptual logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata
- Design report layout and determine best way to offer data to end users and stakeholders
- Translate complex concepts to make them understandable by different audiences
- Monitor and maintain the BI environment from data extraction to report distribution
- Responsible for data distribution to appropriate user groups in the method and frequency agreed upon with stakeholders
- Responsible for data extraction and transformation processes to integrate new data sources :
Conduct impact assessment and determine size of effort based on requirements
Identify recommend and implement ETL process and architecture improvementsAssist and verify design of solution and production of all design phase deliverablesManage build phase and quality assure code to ensure fulfilling requirements and adhering to ETL architectureContinuously look for opportunities to automate data extraction transformation and reporting processes to reduce manual work and improve efficiencyMaintain data governance reports data sets and other BI solutionsIdentifying advanced analytics opportunities in interactions with stakeholdersCollaborate with other members of the HIS project team and the Organizational Performance department to develop and design data solutions that are easily digestible by stakeholders (i.e. reports dashboards scorecards etc.)Assist with the development of training curriculum for training of reporting usersCreate and maintain documentation to build a repository of key configuration decisions and associated buildWork closely with the Epic HIS vendor project team and operational subject matter experts to help create the future state workflows by participating and leading site visits working group meetings validation sessions and other related meetingsFacilitate and participate in meetings to discuss deliverables issues end user concerns and upcoming milestonesWork closely with HIS team members to identify document and troubleshoot issues to find creative resolutionsPartner with Epic HIS vendor representatives to maintain communication and help vendor staff understand hospitals operational needsAchieve Epic certification and / or accreditationParticipate in an oncall rotation to provide 24 / 7 supportWork extended hours (days evenings nights weekends) as requiredQualifications :
Successful completion of either a university degree or college diploma in Computer Science Health Informatics or a related field or equivalent experience is required.Minimum of three years of experience in developing and managing BI solutions using Microsoft Power BI or similar reporting toolsExperience with SQL Server including writing complex queries stored procedures and performance tuning for data retrievalExperience with ETL processes for data extraction transformation and loadingExperience in implementing data visualization best practices to present data clearly and effectively to endusersProficiency in data modeling and data warehousing concepts including the ability to design star and snowflake schemasAbility to work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements develop insights and create visually appealing dashboards and reportsFamiliarity with data governance and security practices to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulationsExcellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize BI solutions for performance and usabilityStrong analytical skills and demonstrated success at solving complex problemsAbility to work with APIs for data extraction and integration from various sourcesFamiliarity with Agile development practices and working in crossfunctional teams to deliver BI solutionsUtilize a variety of tools and technologies to manage data develop reports and create visualizations (below is a list of essential tools that you might work with) :SQL Server
