Challenging the norm and innovating better methods is core to our approach.The Estimator is responsible for reviewing project documents, estimating labor and materials costs, and communicating financial costs and project timelines to internal and external customers in the preparation and delivery of estimates and proposals.Essential Functions : Review specifications and construction drawings in the development of scopes of work including identifying required scopes / trades and quantitiesReview contracts prior to bid to ensure that terms, conditions, exclusions, and qualifications included in the owner's contract are appropriately addressed in the cost estimateEstimate self-performed and subcontractor performed work, pricing the labor, equipment, and material costsReview and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, bid tabulations, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, job costs system, etc. into unit cost, man-hour, and crew production ratesSource vendors and subcontractors for various projectsCoordinate, obtain, and review vendor and subcontractor quotations prior to bidPerform mechanical process piping takeoff and pricingPerform or coordinate quantity takeoff, assembling direct cost estimate and analyzing alternate construction methods / resources to determine and improve cost effectivenessReview design options and / or recommend best solution / alternative based on cost-effectiveness, value engineering or availability of materialsSupport project management by estimating extra work items and change ordersRequired QualificationsDiploma in construction / engineering technology4 to 8 years of progressive responsibility estimating in a heavy and industrial construction environmentExperience reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements and industry standardsExperience with discipline-specific industry standards (API, ASME, AWWA, NACE, ACI, etc.) is preferredExperience with developing bidding strategies associated with various bid delivery methodologies (fixed price, design-build, CMAR, cost-plus) preferredAbility to produce accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawingsAbility to produce detailed, final cost and time estimatesAbility to assess site exposures / construction risks / constructability issues and be able to appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimateAbility to identify value-engineering alternativesAbility to travel occasionally as needed for site visits and bid deliveryEOE, Including disability / vets
