We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Controller to join a respected non-profit organization. As a key member of the finance team, the Controller will oversee financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies. This role requires a strong understanding of non-profit accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting, as well as the ability to collaborate with various departments to support the organization's mission.Key Controller Responsibilities : Financial Management : Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit-specific regulations such as FASB guidelines.Budgeting & Forecasting : Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with program managers and leadership to set realistic financial goals.Monitor financial performance against budgeted figures and provide timely, actionable insights to senior management.Provide monthly variance analysis, identifying potential financial risks and recommending corrective actions.Grant Management & Compliance : Ensure accurate financial reporting for grants, restricted funds, and contributions, adhering to donor and grantor guidelines.Prepare and review grant reports and ensure proper allocation of restricted funds.Maintain proper documentation for audits and funding reviews, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Audit & Internal Controls : Coordinate and support the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors and responding to requests for information.Develop and enforce robust internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure financial integrity.Monitor compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Financial Analysis & Reporting : Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership, assisting in decision-making and strategic planning.Create ad hoc financial reports and presentations for the Board of Directors, senior management, and other stakeholders.Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).At least 3 years of experience in non-profit accounting or financial management.Strong knowledge of non-profit financial regulations, fund accounting, and financial reporting requirements.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Financial Edge, or similar).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Proven leadership experience with the ability to collaborate across departments and manage teams effectively.Preferred Skills : Experience with grants and restricted funding accounting.Familiarity with the non-profit sector, including regulatory bodies like the IRS and FASB.Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
