JOB SUMMARY :
SaskPower is looking for enthusiastic people interested in joining our team as Powerline Technician Apprentices. If you like working at heights, outdoors and challenging work, this may be the career that’s right for you.
The employee in this training classification will obtain an Interprovincial Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate upon successful completion of four apprenticeship years in accordance with the required training courses and experience.

Please reference the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship And Trade Certification Commission website for further information regarding entrance requirements. As per these requirements, the minimum entrance requirements for apprenticeship training which includes a Saskatchewan equivalent grade 12, a Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment level 6 (completed within the last 12 months), and / or be subject to passing an assessment monitored by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
From the pool of successful candidates in this process, we will select individuals for our training crew. After, the training crew employees will then report to one of our construction crews to begin our 4-year apprenticeship program.
Those unsuccessful in obtaining a position in the apprenticeship program may be considered for future labourer opportunities at SaskPower.
Candidates will tentatively start in May 2025.
This position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.
Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in an assessment process consisting of any / all of the following : interview, abilities test, case study and / or presentation.
