Job description

What you’ll do :

  • Demonstrate the behaviors and actions to support Lake Country Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, and safety principles to make a difference in members lives, with a strong customer focused approach
  • Collaborate with the Director of Home and Building Solutions (HABS) in initiating, developing, and implementing plans, policies, and innovations that will ensure the growth in sales, service, and earnings including future forecasting and business development in general contracting
  • Lead the development and management of the Homes by Lake Country operation in alignment with our retail’s strategic direction and corporate objectives
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the development and direction of the reporting team leaders including the following :

o Collaborate with senior-level project teams to support development of logistics and schedules during pre-construction and early project activities

o Provide regular oversight to general contracting operations to remove barriers, assess efficiencies, and initiate change

o Develop and maintain the framework under which field personnel will be directed, managed, and supported

o Allocate resources including personnel, budget, and technology to projects; direct and allocate all trades field assignments

o Review project schedules and requirements with construction team leaders and provide technical direction and professional support

o Ensure all critical activities and decisions remain on task and timelines, and are executed to company and client standards

o Manage projects and document field issues that impact budget, quality, schedule and provide regular updates to the Director, HABS

o Manage the professional development and progress for field trades persons, participating actively in workforce planning and succession planning

  • Budget, administer, and be responsible for the sales, margins, expenses, inventory, and sales per employee hour
  • Engage and interact with members and customers to create a legendary customer experience at all touchpoints
  • Ensure the location is ordering, displaying, stocking, and rotating merchandise as per company policy; this includes orderly displays and properly priced products with labels and tags
  • Oversee the file maintenance function, conduct inventory counts, and audit supporting inventory cycle counter
  • Collaborate in the development of and then oversee the Homes by Lake Country Supply and Installation program
  • Oversee adherence to the Safety Management and Asset Protection systems, policies, procedures, records, and training requirements and lead this program by example
  • Articulate and effectively communicate a vision for success to reporting leaders and team members
  • Actively collaborate with leaders in the Home and Building Solutions business unit to innovate, streamline, and ensure departmental synergies, efficiencies, and effectiveness

  • Who you will work with :

    The Team : Reporting to the Director, Home and Building Solutions, you will be a key participant in initiating, developing, and executing plans and policies to ensure continued growth in sales, service, and customer satisfaction. You will lead a team of professionals including the Sales Team Leader, Estimating Team Leader, RTM Construction Lead, New Home Construction Lead, Residential Installations Lead, Ag Installations Lead, and File Maintenance supervisor on this fun and passionate team to cultivate a culture of collaboration and customer focus.

    The Community : Lake Country Co-op is in one of the best areas for hunting, fishing, and outdoor experiences in Western Canada.     Who you are :

    You are looking for a leadership opportunity in Home and Building Construction and Customer Service and :

  • Have a minimum 15+ years of progressive construction experience in the field and in general operations
  • Have a minimum 5+ years of experience in general contracting working with major projects
  • Possess a clear understanding of contract administration and Canadian Contract Law, and of building codes and trends
  • Can read, understand, and interpret construction documents, plans, and drawings
  • Have experience coaching, mentoring, developing, and leading a large team of leaders and field personnel
  • Are well organized, can work independently, and as the leader of various teams and field trades
  • Work well under pressure and are savvy with balancing and meeting multiple strict deadlines
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills and communicate effectively using multiple communication channels
  • Are attentive to detail and hold precision and accuracy as core values
  • Are available to work a flexible schedule; some evenings and weekends are required
  • A valid driver’s license (class 5 minimum) is required; in addition, you must be able to perform the physical tasks common to the construction industry
  • Certification and experience with lean construction processes will be considered an asset
  • Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) knowledge is required
