Our Canadian client is one of the leading manufacturers of custom heavy metal part products in North America. The Production Supervisor is critical in driving operational excellence and profitability throughout plant operations. The position is responsible for managing groups of employees in a department, planning for production requirements, maintaining production goals, implementing manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives; ensuring safety requirements are met and maintained as well as overseeing departmental inventory levels. The ideal candidate is a team player, focused on people development and performance of the operation.
The Role :
- In charge of all production, personnel, quality and safety requirements over 3 shifts.
- Provide leadership to all leads and employees on the shift.
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities of the plant.
- Train and evaluate employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
- Investigate and deal with personnel issues. Administer progressive disciplinary action when necessary.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all safety rules are followed.
- Prepare reports on status of established KPIs and champion production-related continuous improvement projects.
- Lead and participate in Kaizen events to ensure continuous improvement goals are being achieved.
- Attend and lead production meetings.
- Undertake projects as assigned by the Plant Manager to improve plant processes.
The Ideal Candidate :
5+ years of manufacturing experience with preference given to those with experience in an industrial or custom manufacturing environment.2+ years of demonstrated leadership experience on the production floor.University degree or college diploma in Engineering / Operations Management or similar field.Those with mechanical aptitude and technical skills are preferred.Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills with experience in dealing with personnel issues including coaching, discipline, and health / safety compliance.Experience implementing continuous improvement efforts would be ideal.Must possess good English verbal and written communication skills.Strong analytical ability, problem solving, and detail orientation.Ability to influence others and effectively work in a team.Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.Available to work weekend shifts if necessary.J-18808-Ljbffr
