The Rotman Research Institute (RRI) is a premier international centre for the study of human brain function. The RRI advances the understanding of human brain structure and function in critical areas of cognitive neuroscience, including perception, memory, language, attention, and decision making.
With a primary focus on aging and brain health, RRI scientists and trainees, and other clinician researchers across Baycrest, promote and impact effective care and improved quality of life for older adults through research into age- and disease-related behavioural and neural changes.
Job Summary
The successful applicant will support clinical research projects focused on understanding and treating mood and memory disorders in older adults using neuropsychological assessments, behavioural task paradigms, neuroimaging, and brain stimulation.
T his position requires some flexibility to be available on evenings or weekends to accommodate recruitment, screening, or assessments of research participants.
This position requires work on-site at Baycrest. The successful applicant will work in a fast-paced lab that provides experience in a wide variety of research-related tasks in a clinical research setting.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Database management and preparing data for presentations and peer-reviewed research papers
- Assists with Health Canada regulatory submissions, progress reports, and other administrative duties
- Data entry and analysis, including behavioral, neuropsychological, and imaging data
- Scheduling human subjects’ interviews, screening eligible research subjects, recruitment, maintaining subject records
- Scheduling and preparing for MRI or PET scans
- Assisting with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment
Qualifications include but are not limited to :
- B.A. / B.Sc. in Psychology, Neuroscience or Health Sciences related discipline plus previous summer, work-term or full-time employment as a research assistant / analyst
- Experience working with older adults and individuals with mood and / or memory problems in a clinical or clinical research setting
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and pay attention to detail
- Excellent writing skill and organizational skills
- Capacity to learn and adapt to new tasks quickly
- Prior research experience in organizing and managing databases
- Proficiency with word processing, PowerPoint, Excel and other database software packages.
- Assets are :
- Experience conducting basic analyses using statistical packages (SPSS) and data interpretation.
- Experience with neuroimaging data collection and analysis
