Personal Injury Lawyer (Plaintiff Side)
Location : Remote (Ontario, Canada)
Job Summary :
The Personal Injury Lawyer will represent clients who have been injured as a result of accidents, negligence, or other incidents. This position requires a strong understanding of personal injury law, the litigation process, and the ability to advocate effectively for clients in order to secure fair compensation. The lawyer will manage cases from intake through settlement or trial, including preparing legal documents, negotiating with insurance companies, and providing strategic advice to clients.
Responsibilities : Case Management :
- Manage a caseload of personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, medical malpractice, and other injury-related claims.
- Review and assess client files, ensuring all necessary documentation is gathered and analyzed.
Client Communication :
Conduct consultations with potential clients to evaluate their claims and provide legal advice.Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their cases and any necessary next steps.Legal Research & Drafting :
Conduct legal research on relevant laws, statutes, and case precedents related to personal injury.Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.Negotiation & Settlement :
Engage in settlement negotiations with opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and other parties to achieve fair compensation for clients.Prepare clients for alternative dispute resolution methods (e.g., mediation).Litigation :
Represent clients in court and at settlement conferences when necessary.Prepare and file legal briefs, motions, and other court-related documents.Advocate on behalf of clients during trials or hearings.Collaboration :
Work closely with paralegals, legal assistants, and other team members to manage case files and ensure deadlines are met.Collaborate with experts (medical professionals, accident reconstructionist, etc.) to build strong cases for clients.Compliance & Ethics :
Ensure adherence to all applicable legal regulations and ethical standards governing the practice of law in Ontario.Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct in all aspects of legal practice.Required Skills & Qualifications :
Education : Licensed to practice law in Ontario (L.L.B. or J.D.).Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in personal injury law, with a focus on plaintiff-side litigation.Strong Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interaction, negotiation, and court proceedings.Litigation Experience : Proven ability to handle all aspects of litigation, from case inception to trial.Attention to Detail : Ability to handle complex legal documents and provide meticulous case management.Negotiation Skills : Strong ability to negotiate settlements that are in the best interest of clients.Remote Work Competency : Comfortable working remotely, with strong self-management, communication, and time management skills.
