Job description

Division Chief of Stroke & Neurocritical Care

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is dedicated to transforming health care for New Jersey and the nation through innovation and excellence in education, discovery, patient and family-centered care and addressing the health of our diverse community. Participate in the clinical care of patients, principally those with cerebrovascular disorders, under the administrative structure of the University Medical Group according to a schedule determined by the Division Chief. The principal activity will be with inpatients.

Faculty duties at RWJUH :

  • Management of patients with conditions that require Neurocritical Care.
  • Work collaboratively with the Stroke team, Neurosurgery, and Acute Care Surgery to develop a NCC service at RWJUH and a NCC call schedule.
  • Provide attending coverage as a neuro-intensivist.
  • Participate in teaching of medical students, residents, and stroke fellows.
  • Reports directly to the director of the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit and chief of the division of Stroke and Neurocritical Care.
  • Provide leading medical and clinical aspects of the service.
  • Participate in policy development, policy compliance, and professional and patient education.
  • Monitor clinical indicators to determine if measurable standards are met.
  • Work with the hospital leadership team to establish a framework for the provision of safe, high-quality care, treatment, and services.
  • Attend meetings and provide support to committees and staff in policy development.

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Position Status : Full Time

    Qualifications :

    Minimum Education and Experience : MD; To qualify, candidate must be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency and fellowship and be board certified.

    All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment screenings.

    Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
