The Role

A great Junior Android Software Developer at Neo Financial has a passion for technology and thrives in a dynamic environment. You'll work in a supportive setting with challenges that allow you to contribute across multiple domains and teams. We're looking for hungry, early career talent who are looking to gain real-world experience across mobile development. This role offers the chance to carve out your niche, with opportunities for motivated individuals to take on bigger responsibilities through quick learning, resourcefulness, and hard work.

Our software development teams are composed of problem-solvers and self-starters, who excel in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. You'll collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry to ensure our application and technologies run smoothly, so we can continue to deliver transformative services and products.

What you"ll be doing :

  • Work with a team of experienced Android developers to learn how to design, build and maintain the Neo Financial Android app using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Graphql.
  • Gain hands-on experience writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to industry best practices and coding standards while also contributing to building new coding standards and best practices.
  • Learn how to identify and resolve software issues, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality product.
  • Participate in an Agile development environment, including code reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups to enhance your collaboration and communication skills.
  • Develop your technical writing skills by contributing to the documentation of features and processes.
  • Shadow senior teammates on-call to learn how to respond to and resolve production incidents.
  • Who we are looking for :

  • Recent graduates with a 4-year Bachelor's degree or a 2-year Diploma from a recognized technical institution in a relevant field such as Computer Science
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in Android development with a preference for candidates who have completed an Internship or Co-op
  • Demonstrated passion for technology through side projects or hobbies involving technical work, such as contributing to open-source projects, or building personal web or mobile applications
  • A knack for debugging and passion for finding the root cause of technical problems.
  • Some experience with common software development tools like Git.
  • Working at Neo :

We primarily collaborate in person across our Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto offices.
