Le préposé / la préposé(e) aux bénéficiaires (PAB) fournit une assistance aux patients dans leurs activités quotidiennes dans les hôpitaux, les maisons de retraite ou au domicile des patients.

Les activités quotidiennes peuvent inclure l'hygiène personnelle et la toilette, l'alimentation, le transfert ou le positionnement, l'entretien ménager léger, etc.

Les PABs doivent observer les changements dans l'état des patients et convoquer le personnel infirmier si nécessaire. Il s'agit d'un poste occasionnel / à temps partiel avec possibilité d'heures à temps plein.

Responsabilités :

• Fournir une assistance en matière d'hygiène et de toilettage, y compris le bain, les soins de la peau, les soins de la bouche et les soins capillaires.
• Fournir de l’aide pour s’habiller et se déshabiller.
• Fournir un soutien pour aller aux toilettes, utiliser des bassines de lit, des urinoirs, des chaises percées, des produits pour incontinence, vider et changer les sacs de jambe, et effectuer la routine intestinale.
• Fournir de l’aide pour l’utilisation d’aides personnelles telles que des prothèses dentaires, des appareils auditifs et des prothèses.
• Fournir une aide au transfert, au positionnement et à la marche grâce à l'utilisation d'aides mécaniques et de dispositifs de transfert.
• Fournir de la camaraderie et un soutien émotionnel aux clients.
• Assurer des fonctions de soutien à domicile au client telles que la planification des menus, la préparation des repas, l'aide à l'alimentation.
• Assurer le ménage léger et la lessive, selon les besoins.
• Observer et signaler au superviseur de cas ou à l’infirmière responsable de l’établissement toute préoccupation ou problème concernant l’état physique et mental des clients.
• Documenter les informations sur les clients concernant les services de soins personnels et de gestion à domicile, selon les besoins.

Qualifications :

• Doit avoir une certification PAB d'un établissement accrédité.
• Communication en anglais & français requise; le bilinguisme est un atout.
• Doit être capable de travailler par quarts (jour, soir, nuit).
• Doit avoir un certificat de RCR à jour.
• Doit avoir fait l'objet d'un contrôle de police récent (au cours de la dernière année) pour le secteur vulnérable.
• Doit avoir un test de tuberculose négatif au cours de la dernière année.
• Doit disposer d'un appareil mobile et d'un accès à Internet.
• De solides compétences en communication.
• Capacité à surveiller les patients pendant des périodes prolongées.
• Capacité à réagir rapidement.
• Capacité à bien travailler avec les autres.
• Il faut faire preuve d'une grande patience.
• Doit être calme et respectueux.
• Doit maîtriser la technologie.

Conditions de travail et / ou exigences du poste :

• Capacité à se rendre sur plusieurs sites, notamment des hôpitaux, des établissements de soins de longue durée ou des domiciles de patients.
• Nécessite de l'endurance mentale pour rester éveillé à tout moment en étant avec un patient.
• Capacité à soulever et transporter des objets pesant jusqu'à 30 livres.

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides assistance to patients with daily activities in hospitals, nursing homes, or patient's homes.

Daily activities may include personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, transferring or positioning, light housekeeping, and so on.

PSWs should observe for changes in patient's conditions and summon nursing staff where necessary. This is a casual / PT position with the possibility of FT hours.

Accountabilities :

• Provide assistance with hygiene and grooming, including bathing, skin care, mouth care, and hair care.
• Provide assistance with dressing and undressing.
• Provide support with toileting, utilizing bedpans, urinals, commodes, incontinent products, emptying and changing leg bags, and bowel routine.
• Provide assistance with the use of personal aids such as dentures, hearing aids, and prostheses.
• Provide assistance with transferring, positioning, and ambulating through the use of mechanical aids and transferring devices.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
• Provide home support functions to the client such as menu planning, meal preparation, and assistance with feeding.
• Provide light housekeeping and laundry, as required.
• Observe and report to the case supervisor or the facility charge nurse any concerns or problems regarding the client’s physical and mental status.
• Document client information regarding personal care and home management services, as required.

Qualifications :

• Must have a PSW certification from an accredited institution.
• English communication is required; bilingualism is an asset.
• Must be able to work shifts (day, evening, night).
• Must have a current CPR certificate.
• Must have a recent (within the last 1 year) police check for the vulnerable sector.
• Must have a negative TB test from within the last 1 year.
• Must have a mobile device and access to the internet.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to monitor patients for extended periods of time.
• Ability to respond swiftly.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Must have a high degree of patience.
• Must be calm and respectful.
• Must be proficient with technology.

Working Conditions and / or Job Requirements :

• Ability to travel to multiple sites, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, or patient homes.
• Requires mental stamina to stay awake at all times when with a patient.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
