Job description

We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Development Accountant in the Real Estate & Property industry. The role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and can be performed remotely. The Development Accountant will be responsible for various accounting tasks related to development projects, maintaining job cost records, and providing financial updates and reports. They will also work closely with the development teams, handle loan draws and capital calls, and manage joint venture communications.

Responsibilities :

  • Handle comprehensive accounting tasks for development projects with minimal supervision
  • Keep up-to-date job cost records in Yardi
  • Set up and manage projects in Yardi job cost, including original and revised budgets, costs incurred, costs to complete, committed costs, and projected final costs
  • Collaborate with the western development teams, including attending project status meetings and providing financial updates
  • Manage loan draws and capital calls
  • Generate monthly financial reports and provide accurate analysis of financial results
  • Assist in the preparation of Project Status Reports
  • Prepare costing and profit reporting
  • Develop budgets utilizing the latest job cost reports, including timing of cash outflows
  • Track holdbacks and holdback releases in accordance with provincial lien holdback legislation
  • Handle limited partnership structures, LP funding, cash management JV draws
  • Communicate effectively with the rest of the team, providing necessary support
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Development Accountant role or similar within the Real Estate & Property industry.
  • Proficiency in using Yardi software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Property Accounting.
  • Strong understanding of Cost Accounting.
  • Experience in managing Capital Assets.
  • Ability to perform Ad Hoc Analysis and Ad Hoc Financial Analysis.
  • Proven experience in Budget allocations and Budget Management.
  • Expertise in Financial Reporting.
  • Experience with Joint Ventures within the Real Estate & Property sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Excel VBA.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
