A Day in the Life

As a Field Engineer, you will conduct a wide variety of quality assurance management and monitoring. This role executes field testing activities and works primarily within a small crew to provide quality control management on small to medium sized projects. You will collect, prepare, and review field notes and related data to clients or direct supervisor.

  • Conduct ongoing daily technical observation of the construction work
  • Participate in the review of inspection and test plans
  • Review and provide feedback on the deficiency (punch) list and contractor ITP
  • Participating in construction walk-down for partial and full scope completion
  • Providing information to the EOR to assist in submittals review and issue resolution
  • Assisting Imperial Oil in the identification of non-compliant work promptly
  • Auditing contractor turnover binder tor ITP compliance
  • Maintaining an open dialogue with Imperial Oil and the Contractor for such items as requests for information (RFI), and non-conformance reports (NCR) and engineering change notices (ECN).
  • Submitting daily and weekly reports to the Construction Manager.
  • Coordinating with construction team members (EOR and Geotechnical) on site.
  • Coordinating critical activity reviews by technical specialists.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Understand site safety and the construction safety protocols
  • Safety tickets and certifications
  • Past experience on large construction sites
  • Rotational, remote or camp based work (oil field, forestry etc.)
  • Engineering Technologist or similar training
  • Jobs requiring meticulous record keeping and data management
