We are looking for a motivated Applications Engineer - Project Management to join our team!

Responsibilities :

Reporting to the Manager, Optical Projects and Applications Engineering, the position is responsible for working to coordinate project activities on an interdepartmental basis, for the VPG KELK Optical and Laser Doppler products and systems.

  • Participate in order review meetings with Sales Support department to confirm the scope of supply and for drafting the work order.
  • Create the installation drawing package for the projects, participate in market / competitive product research activities.
  • Participating in the creation of any custom communication protocols.
  • Documenting all custom features, defining, and planning work
  • Monitoring and expediting progress
  • Ensuring that equipment is properly inspected, tested
  • Configure and adapt VPG KELK products (including documentation) to meet requirements.
  • System staging and Factory Acceptance Testing / records and customer training
  • Provide technical assistance and training to Sales department, customers and users
  • Perform design maintenance activities as assigned, including writing ECNs
  • Participate in new product design activities as approved by management
  • Gather product performance information, feeding back to the Optical Products Group
  • Provide technical assistance to Production, including assistance with repairs
  • Maintain and operate the assigned product test facilities
  • Install, commission and service equipment at users' sites as required
  • Complete Site Acceptance Testing for customer sign-off
  • Prepare site commissioning reports

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or post-secondary education (diploma) in a technology field with appropriate experience required.
  • Project Management Certification an asset
  • PEng., E.I.T. or similar designation an asset
  • 5-10 years of experience with control, automation and electromechanical products and systems in an industrial, automotive, or aerospace environment, preferred, but other markets will be considered.
  • Mechanical, Optical, and Electrical aptitude, necessary
  • Experience with Project Management and Scheduling Systems. E.g. MS Project, Workout, or similar
  • Experience with AutoCAD and / or SolidWorks
  • Sound awareness and experience of industrial safety procedures
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of professionalism and diplomacy with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated strength in time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi- task / prioritize and be adaptable in a fast-paced work environment
