About this opportunity :
The Data Governance & Quality Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of data governance policies and practices within the organization.
They play a key role in ensuring data quality, data integrity, and compliance with data-related regulations and standards.
The Data Governance Analyst works closely with business process owners, IT teams, and data stewards to gather requirements, facilitate discussions, profile data, manage metadata, and develop data quality rules.
What you’ll do :
Collaborate with business process owners and IT teams to gather and document data requirements for various data initiatives
Facilitate workshops and meetings with collaborators to discuss and align on data governance strategies and practices
Conduct data profiling activities to understand data structures, issues, and anomalies, and to inform data quality improvement efforts
Manage metadata repositories, ensuring that metadata is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant collaborators
Develop and implement data quality rules, including validation, standardization, and cleansing processes, to ensure the integrity and reliability of data
Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure compliance with data standards.
Assist in implementing data management platforms to enable Data Catalogs, Data Quality, and Master Data Management (MDM) capabilities
Monitor compliance with data governance policies and standards, and report on data governance metrics and KPIs
Assist in the resolution of data-related issues and conflicts, serving as a liaison between business and IT teams
Provide input and recommendations for the selection of data-related technologies and tools that support data governance objectives
Participate in the development and maintenance of data models and architecture to support data governance and data management initiatives
Educate and train partners on data governance principles, practices, and the importance of data quality and metadata management
Who you are :
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements :
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required
Minimum of 8 years of experience in data governance, data quality management or a related field
Project Management Expertise : Consistent track record of leading multi-year, high-budget programs from inception through to successful completion.
Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies is highly desirable
Technical Acumen : Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address data quality issues.
Previous experience with ERP systems, cloud technologies, and data governance initiatives is preferred
CDMP certification is an asset. Understanding of data governance and data quality standards such as DAMA -DMBOK, GDPR, CCPA or other relevant regulations.
Negotiation & Communication : Strong negotiation skills with the ability to lead partner expectations and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Strategic Alignment : Demonstrated experience in aligning program deliverables with broader organizational strategies, ensuring that data governance initiatives are fully integrated into the company’s long-term goals
Strong facilitation skills to drive discussions and decision-making among collaborators
Proficiency in data profiling tools and methodologies
Experience in developing and implementing data quality rules
Knowledge of metadata management principles and practices
