Financial roles encompass a variety of activities that assist departments with planning, financial analysis, accounting and auditing in support of advancing strategic objectives and overall comptrollership within government.

Qualifications : Essential :
Relevant post-secondary education including enrollment at the intermediate level of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Program.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Operational understanding of accounting standards and demonstrated experience working with accounting principles / concepts and adhering to accounting policies.
- Experience developing and monitoring financial processes and internal controls, and interpreting and applying policies, statutes and legislation, and / or conducting audits and reviews to assess compliance, make recommendations and improve existing processes.
- Experience with financial management in a complex environment including planning, budgeting, forecasting and expenditure control, and / or providing quantitative / qualitative analysis in a complex environment and making sound recommendations to support decision making.
- In-depth experience and expertise applying accounting treatments in accordance with accepted standards, performing research, advice and evaluating the treatment for complex transactions to ensure a consistent application in accordance with accounting guidelines. (FI4 only)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on MS Excel including manipulating data, using complex formulas, macros and pivot tables.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, senior management, other government departments, and agencies.
The ability to influence and collaborate with staff at all levels.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare highly complex documents with a high level of attention to detail.
- Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver information in a clear and organized manner to a wide variety of audiences.
Desired :
- Experience with SAP financial management modules or other complex financial systems.
- Experience supervising staff including providing mentorship, leadership and guidance. (FI4 only)
- Duties : Mid level financial roles in government within a variety of departments, duties may include coordinating the estimates process including budget preparation, planning as well as budgetary operational control;
- financial management and control, including analysis, managing financial systems and controls, financial and operational reporting;
and accounting support including commitment, accrual, cost accounting, auditing and reviews, reconciliations and treasury duties.
