Job description

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Senior Automation Designer - Mechanical in Cambridge, ON. The work will be done onsite. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. Compensation includes full benefits, vision, dental, health insurance, and 401K. Cullerton Group will provide H1B Sponsorship.

The ideal candidate is a Senior Automation Designer - Mechanical with 8+ years of experience in automation engineering, specializing in line automation, special-purpose machine (SPM) design, and manufacturing automation. This onsite role in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, requires expertise in machine shop techniques, drafting principles, and automation tooling design. The candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical devices while ensuring compliance with CSA N285 / NQA Quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

Design automation systems and tooling based on sketches, verbal concepts, and project requirements.

Develop detailed engineering drawings, including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.

Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create precise 2D and 3D designs.

Perform engineering calculations related to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force.

Ensure compliance with CSA B51 and CSA N285.0 standards.

Collaborate with electrical designers to review input / output device requirements.

Assist fabricators, machinists, toolmakers, and electricians during debugging, integration, and problem resolution.

Organize and manage technical documentation, including quotes, drawing registers, requisitions, and schedules.

Oversee installation and commissioning of automation systems. Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

8+ years of experience in automation design, machine shop techniques, and manufacturing automation.

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (6+ years).

Hands-on experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical devices (switches, load cells, LVDTs, etc.).

Familiarity with CSA B51, CSA N285.0, and NQA Quality standards.

Experience with special-purpose machine (SPM) design and installation.
