The Company / Opportunity :
Our Client is a niche company manufacturing products for private label. They have a talented and growing team that believes in plant-based nutrition such as beans, rice and lentils brought from around the world to land in people’s pantry. They are looking for a HACCP Coordinator to join their team. The ideal Candidate will have a strong background in food safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance. This role is crucial in ensuring that all food safety standards are met, and it involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify potential hazards, establish critical control points and implement corrective actions.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
- Lead the BRC program for their Ontario facility. Ensuring hazards are identified, assessed and effective control plans are in place.
- Ensuring the site is prepared for BRC audits through in-depth internal audits with re-audits and confirmation of effectiveness of corrective actions. Supporting the site where needed in ensuring the sites are ready for external audits.
- Prepare for and lead internal audits and a key role in external food safety audits, including those conducted by regulatory bodies, customers, and certification agencies. Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards.
- Review SOP / Documentation : Own the review and auditing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards including updating and improving in collaboration team members and other cross functional teams.
- Reporting and Documentation : Prepare detailed audit reports, including findings, corrective actions, and recommendations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of audits and consulting activities. Communicate effectively with cross functional teams to ensure understanding and implementation of audit findings and recommendations.
- Investigate food safety incidents, implement corrective actions and preventive actions (CAPA) to address root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate and up-to date HACCP documentation, including hazard analysis, CCP monitoring records, verification activities and audit reports. Ensure all records are readily available for audits and inspections.
- IQMS System Implementation : Lead the implementation of Integrated Quality Management Systems (IQMS) to enhance their food safety and quality management processes within the organization.
- Ensure all products made at the site comply with appropriate food safety, quality, technical standards, and procedures are followed.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities for compliance with food safety standards and ensure food safety non-conformance investigations are thorough and risk-based focusing on prevention.
- Assess and approve suppliers based on food safety criteria.
- Working with third party suppliers to ensure an effective pest control program.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications :
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a QA position within manufacturing / food industry required.Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related discipline.Strong understanding or knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRC, GFSI and CFIA regulations.HACCP / Internal audit certification (required).Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.Working Conditions :
