This role involves implementing, configuring, maintaining, securing, and optimizing SQL Server and PostgreSQL RDBMS systems within the Solutions Development department. The goal is to ensure the availability and consistent performance of these systems. The candidate will collaborate closely with developers and engineers to implement best practices across multiple stages of data and analytics product development, from design to delivery. This position requires hands-on expertise in deploying data warehouse and analytical solutions.The ideal candidate will be capable of working both independently and collaboratively and possess strong technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.Primary ResponsibilitiesUnderstand and follow GlobeStar’s ISO-13485-2016 Quality Management System, and all relevant operating procedures and work instructionsInstall, configure, and maintain Solution Development SQL Servers and PostgreSQL databases, including all associated software and hardware (Windows servers, virtual machines, SQL Server tools and components including SSIS, SSRS, SSMS, SSDT and Encryption)Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of databases to support application development.Design and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.Collaborate with developers to design and optimize database schemas, indexes, and queries.Provide guidance on best practices for database development and integration.Review and optimize SQL scripts, stored procedures, and triggers.Monitor database performance and conduct regular tuning to optimize query execution.Identify and resolve bottlenecks, deadlocks, and other performance issues.Implement database security measures, including user access controls and encryption.Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for data security.Work closely with the Data & Analytics Team to support reporting and analytics needs.Assist in automating data workflows and pipelines as required.Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.Support deployment of the product by providing documentation, preparing deployment scripts and producing deployment plans.Assist the Connexall Operations team and provide consultations for troubleshooting and deployment of database and analytics products at end-customer sitesStay updated on the latest trends and best practices in database management and development.Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team membersOther duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a similar discipline2+ years experience in database administration, particularly with SQL Server and PostgreSQL.2+ years work experience as database developer is a big asset.Experience with deployment and maintenance of data warehouse and analytical solutions.Expert knowledge in SQL server performance tuning, optimization and troubleshooting toolsExpertise is T-SQL programming and scriptingExperience with SSRS, SSIS and SSASExperience working with Windows server, including Active DirectoryExperience with Azure SQL Administration is a plusKnowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL ServerMCSA and / or MCITP certifications a plusExcellent written and verbal communicationFlexible, team player, “get-it-done” personalityAbility to organize and plan work independentlyAbility to work in a rapidly changing environmentAbility to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teamsBenefitsCompetitive annual salaryA rich benefits package, including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insuranceRetirement savings plan with employer contributionsProfessional development & training opportunitiesEducation Reimbursement ProgramFlexible work arrangements (Hybrid)Collaborative & inclusive work environmentThis position does not support a Labour Market Impact Assessment, or any other form of immigration sponsorship.
