Please Note : Board supported systems for this position will focus on SQL Server Programming (T-SQL & Integration Services), Active Directory programming, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Jquery, Visual Studio, C#, HTML5, JavaScript, MVC, PowerShell, Web Services / APIs, Microsoft .NET Development Framework and design / architectural patterns, SharePoint Online and MS Power Platform (PowerBI, Power Apps, Power Automate).

In compliance with Board policies and procedures, this position is responsible for assisting with the design, development and implementation of computer applications. Assist in the use, maintenance, enhancement and control of these applications and provide technical support to users in compliance with Board policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities :

  • To analyze, design, develop and implement programming code for new software development and maintenance.
  • To complete unit and system integration testing within project timelines.
  • To adhere to YRDSB coding / database / change management standards and best practices currently in place.
  • To create and maintain program documentation, user manuals and other materials required to utilize and maintain the application(s).
  • To provide cross training, where applicable.
  • To diagnose, investigate and provide resolution to application issues / problems.
  • To participate in the review of computer application(s), administrative procedures, internal forms, etc. and facilitate revisions to ensure maximum efficiency is attained and / or maintained.
  • To provide implementation and post implementation support.
  • To identify tasks, provide estimates and sequencing with assistance of the Project Manager.
  • To keep up to date with current industry trends and best practices.
  • To participate as an active member of the Information Technology Services team.
  • To attend and participate in meetings and professional development sessions / training as required.
  • To perform other duties as assigned.

Line of Responsibility :

Responsible to the assigned Enterprise Applications Resource Manager, Information Technology Services

Education, Experience, and Qualifications :

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma with three years of post-secondary education in computer science or a related field, as approved by the board, is required.
  • Minimum two years related experience is required.
  • An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Board approved / implemented and supported software are required.
  • Ability to explain features to all levels of users is required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment is required.

    Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members :

    LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remain twelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion during the twelve (12) month period.

    Applicants will be deemed to have the educational qualifications, according to the job description for the classification they are currently in, as per the terms of the current CUPE Local 1734 Collective Agreement.
