Internal Interest Posting : Endoscope Cleaning Technician position

Three () casual Endoscope Cleaning Technician positions are available in the MDRD department at Groves Memorial Community Hospital for current Support Services Attendants at GMCH who are certified or are willing to obtain certification tocross-train in endoscopy reprocessing.

The Endoscope Cleaning Technician is responsible for manually cleaning, reprocessing, and maintaining endoscopes and operating automated endoscope washing systems. This process includes but is not limited to leak testing, manual cleaning and verification, high-level disinfection through the automated endoscope reprocessor, endoscope drying and storage, and transporting endoscopes. The job will also include accurate maintenance of processing records and logs.

The successful candidate(s) will receive onsite training for the Olympus Endoscope Reprocessor (OERPro) including the endoscope reprocessing procedure, routine maintenance, and core competencies. In addition, staff will complete comprehensive and specialized virtual and in-person training through Olympus Canada to expand their clinical knowledge and expertise.

Adhering to guidelines and standards set by CSA (Canadian Standards Association), PIDAC, (Provincial Infections Diseases Advisory Committee), MDRAO (medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario) and Health Canada. Staff must be educated, trained, and complete the University of Olympus endoscopy training.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Secondary School or equivalent
• Completion of an Endoscopy Technician Certification Program is required (or willing to obtain)
• Experience in flexible endoscope (upper endoscopies and colonoscopies) an asset
• Experience with medical terminology an asset
• Knowledge of routine infection control practices
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated computer proficiency (windows and internet)
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and as a team member
• Positive work and attendance record is essential
• Exceptional performance and attendance required
• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired
