Job Summary

The Student Services Specialist conducts student reception and intake for the Center, including assessing students’ needs and providing information on services and processes. This position provides academic and career advisement for new, continuing, and prospective students. Academic advisement includes providing information on admissions, registration, program and degree requirements, education plans, and information on MCCCD policies and procedures. Career advisement includes providing career information and career assessments, and making referrals to other student services based on the students’ needs. The Student Services Specialist also manages a wide variety of information sources such as web sites, printed material, and email, to maintain current knowledge of advising policies. This position facilitates group advising including presentation of information and registration.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus.
