POSITION SUMMARY :
The Project Manager will be accountable for supporting and growing the business by providing project management and support for projects and business development. The Project Manager will be a proven leader and provide management and oversight for defined, medium to larger, projects anywhere in the western Canadian region. Responsibilities include ensuring all assigned projects are delivered safely, consistently, and effectively and are profitably managed and compliant. It is vital that the Project Manager supports building the A&H values, culture and brand by providing world class service and quality to all stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities :
Responsibility Area #1 - Supervisory
- Provide performance feedback to project team on a continual basis (project dependant).
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with objectives and schedules.
- Responsible for change management processes on assigned projects.
- Responsible for improvements on cost control / monitoring and increasing overall technical / drafting efficiency.
- Responsible to implement industry practices and procedures that impact detailing department.
Responsibility Area #2 - Documentation and Reporting
Assist in the development and training for an efficient document control department.Produce progress reports for each project (weekly / monthly).Record and manage project issues.Evaluate the outcomes of each project with a project summary.Assist in the development of administrative efficiencies through documented procedures.Responsibility Area #3 - Health and Safety
Ensure all staff adhere to A&H Steel's Health, Safety and Environment practices and procedures.Ensuring a Health and Safety moment is included at all department meetings.Responsibility Area #4 – Financial Accountabilities
Evaluating each projects cost breakdown at start of project to ensure maximum profitability and at the end of a project.Develop "checks and balances" to track costs throughout each project.Evaluate the cost / financial outcomes of each project with accounting department and provide monthly project forecasting.Ensure job costing sheet is up to date at all times.Responsible to uphold prudent spending.Responsible for monthly billing along with accounts receivable.Responsibility Area #5 – Communication & Feedback
Project Kick-off Meetings.
Facilitate discussion for a particular project with regards to points of contact, scope, estimate review, constructability review, schedule milestones and initial contact questionsWeekly follow-up on the progress of the project, gathering all information required for project kick-off meeting.Project Close-out Meetings.
Facilitate review of a project with regards to project outcomes / metrics, constructability issues, team evaluation and budget review.Facilitate discussion around "was this project successful". Take note on lessons learned and take aways for future projects.Alignment Meeting - Daily.
Provide a snapshot of my daily activities during morning scrum.Project Forecast and Unbilled revenue Meetings - Bi-weekly
Participate in and provide update on assigned projects during the bi-weekly forecast meeting.Participate in and provide update on assigned projects during the bi-weekly unbilled revenue meeting.Monthly Project Finance Meeting - Monthly.
Discuss initiation and progress on personal strategic initiatives.Actively participate in open discussions with team.Provide updates / reports for metrics in projects department.Responsible for all change management initiatives in the projects department.Responsible for providing improvement feedback on department inefficiencies through innovative approaches.Assist in the development and suggest improvements for A&H standards with other groups including estimating, accounting, production and field for efficient project completions, and a high-quality finished product.Continual growth of knowledge and experience by attending educational workshops, establishing networks and participating in professional committees.Maintain a co-operative, motivated and successful team.Responsibility Area #6 – Values & Purpose
Focus on developing self and others by living the company values daily.Participate in continuous training, coaching, and discussions about the values as requested or needed.Participate in helping A&H facilitate its purpose.Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Comprehensive knowledge of construction drawings and construction work methods, specific to concrete reinforcing.Various construction experience, specifically with commercial and industrial construction.Exceptional knowledge of construction drawings and documents.Previous engagement on a project support team.Previous experience planning and completing small projects.Specific experience with rebar reinforcing, either drafting, estimating, or coordinating.Comprehensive knowledge of project sequencing, resources, and objectives.Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.Substantial project knowledge, particular in construction projects.Effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation and troubleshooting / problem solving skills.Knowledgeable of aSa software.Proficient with MS Office tools.Strong knowledge of project scheduling.Strong contractual knowledge, particularly in standard form contracts.Strong team player.Demonstrate strong leadership qualities grounded in self-awareness and the ability to understand the individual needs of team members.Compensation and Benefits ($100,000.00 - $120,000.00 Annual Salary)
