Registered Veterinary Technician – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician for our 24 / 7 ICU department.
About the role
You will be exposed to emergency and critical care departments as part of our integrated care model. In addition, you will experience advanced nursing techniques and other specialty procedures not routinely performed in regular practice.
Our ideal candidate will have :
- Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Emergency & Critical Care is considered an asset
- Registered Veterinary Technician with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (required)
- Enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude
- A strong desire to learn and apply skills to deliver high quality medicine
- Strong communication skills
- An ability and desire to flourish in new environments

Duties and responsibilities :
Assessing and treating critically ill patientsAbility to identify and report changes in health statusIV catheterization and venipuncture skills, advanced catheterization techniquesPlace and maintain urinary catheters and nasogastric tubesCapture radiographs of diagnostic quality with hands-free techniqueUtilize various monitoring equipment on hospitalized patients or during sedation proceduresProvide cardiovascular, oxygen and nutritional supportPerform medical math, calculation of dilutions and CRIsUnderstand the use and effects of various medicationsFollow treatment orders on an electronic system (e.g., EzyVet, VetRadar)Collect, perform and submit lab work and diagnosticsWork well as part of a teamExperience working with complex ICU cases including the use of ICU ventilators and blood transfusions is considered an assetWHAT WE OFFER
