We are launching a pilot indoor nursery program and seeking a Consultant Head Grower to guide our team in developing a commercial-scale hydroponic growing system .Role OverviewWe are looking for a highly experienced horticulturist with expertise in tropical foliage to act as a strategic advisor for our pilot nursery program. The ideal candidate will provide technical guidance on plant selection, propagation techniques, environmental control, and overall operational efficiency .Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Nursery Planning : Develop and refine the pilot nursery layout, ensuring optimal plant density, air circulation, lighting, and irrigation efficiency .Propagation & Growth Techniques : Advise on transplant strategies, and best practices for producing strong, resilient plants.Environmental & Climate Control : Define ideal temperature, humidity, airflow, and CO2 levels to enhance plant health and minimize stress.Pest & Disease Management : Implement proactive, eco-friendly solutions for disease prevention and integrated pest management (IPM).Operational Training : Educate internal staff on best practices for plant care, hydroponic system maintenance, and troubleshooting.Quality Assurance & Data Analysis : Establish growth benchmarks, conduct regular assessments, and refine protocols based on plant performance.Key Qualifications 7+ years of experience in commercial horticulture, hydroponics, or controlled environment agriculture (CEA) .Deep knowledge of tropical foliage plant cultivation (Philodendrons, Monsteras, Alocasias, etc.).Strong expertise in nutrient management, irrigation systems, and environmental controls .Ability to analyze plant performance metrics and adjust protocols accordingly .Strong communication skills for training and advisory sessions .Preferred ExperiencePrevious leadership in greenhouse operations .Experience scaling up from pilot programs to full-scale commercial operations .Compensation & EngagementThis is a advisory / consulting role, with compensation based on experience, project scope, and deliverables. Engagement will be part-time, remote-first, with occasional site visits as needed.
