We are currently seeking a  Purchasing Manager  to lead our Canadian purchasing team. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Purchasing Manager will oversee supply chain and purchasing activities for our 8+ Canadian locations. This position directly supervises Buyers and Purchasing Coordinators at our divisional offices and indirectly mentors and supports operations personnel at field locations. The Purchasing Manager regularly collaborates with corporate Project Managers, Estimators, and other operations personnel and serves as the primary liaison between The State Group and vendors or suppliers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Comply with safety requirements and actively promote a positive safety culture.
  • Establish and execute procedures and work practices in accordance with the Code of Business Conduct policy.
  • Determine, track, and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve efficiencies.
  • Utilize effective negotiation strategies to establish vendor contracts with optimal terms and long-term strategies.
  • Research and forecast price and market trends to identify and leverage shifts in supplier-buyer dynamics.
  • Perform cost and scenario analyses and benchmarking to assess, manage, and mitigate supplier risks; partner with alternative suppliers as needed.
  • Lead the development and performance management of direct reports.
  • Complete projects, audit processes, and additional duties as assigned.
  • WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM

  • 7–10+ years of supply chain and purchasing experience in the construction or a related industry.
  • High school diploma and a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and purchasing / operations software.
  • Experience compiling, analyzing, and presenting data for decision-making.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Strong ability to manage shifting priorities and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with acquisitions and growing operations is preferred.
