The Opportunity

McElhanney is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate / Senior Civil Project Manager / Project Engineer specializing in Land Development in Victoria, BC. In this position, you will primarily serve as the Engineer of Record and Project Manager, collaborating within our respected and dynamic Land Development team. This role, which includes shareholding opportunities, is well-suited for a motivated individual who thrives in a privately held organization with a reputable background in engineering, surveying, and support services. Additionally, this position is ideal for someone who prioritizes project delivery and exceptional client service.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead detailed design and production of land development project infrastructure, such as roads, utilities, and drainage systems.
  • Coordinate / produce / seal detailed design drawings, calculations, reports, construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts.
  • Strategically plan land use and development projects.
  • Chair regular project meetings with clients and internal staff.
  • Develop new business and establish strategic relationships with key clients, agencies and partners.
  • Coordinate with other team members and monitor project progress to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
  • Provide leadership in safety and quality management practices.
  • Prepare and submit superior proposals.
  • Generate invoices for clients and track against agreed client budgets.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with strong technical skills and 5 – 15 years of related technical experience.
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng in BC or ability to obtain registration through existing inter-jurisdictional agreements.
  • Construction Administration is an asset.
  • Proven ability to attract and retain clients, win projects and consistently provide high quality deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated business development skills.
  • An aptitude for leadership, continuous learning, knowledge sharing and relationship building.
  • Bonus points if you have experience with all government levels, construction contractors and developers.

    The salary range for this position is $92,000 - $135,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary / wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The role also comes with the potential for performance bonuses and share ownership.
