Position Overview

The Business Enablement group is seeking a dynamic and motivated professional to join our Business Continuity Management (BCM) team. The Advisor, Business Continuity Management, will work with the BCM Lead and other resiliency teams to mature the Business Continuity Management Program (BCMP).

The BCMP is a cyclical program that delineates and describes all activities related to business continuity within the organization. Each phase has elements that strengthen the ability of EDC and its employees to prepare to respond to disruptions and mitigate risk. The program phases include Business Impact Analysis, Plan Development, Training & Awareness, and Exercising. In addition, this role supports assessments of vendors that provide time critical services.

Key Responsibilities

Business Impact Analysis / Plan Development

  • Supports Leaders by facilitating Business Impact Analysis sessions and Plan Development.
  • Works with the business to elicit, analyze, communicate, validate and translate business continuity requirements to implement solutions across information management, technology, facility, staff, and business processes.
  • Conducts analysis and makes recommendations for the development of recovery procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison between the business and technical communities in the development, implementation and reporting of business continuity solutions that support EDC.

Training & Awareness

  • Facilitates training and awareness on the BCM Program and BCM tools. Including, but not limited to, refreshing content in courses, SharePoint, and producing new material.
  • Exercises

  • Develops, facilitates, and reports on business continuity exercises.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to mature and expand the exercise program.
  • Governance

  • Supports updates to corporate policies, guidelines, standards, procedures and processes for business continuity.
  • Analyzes data to produce reports and presentations for Leadership.
  • Responds to questions and requests from teams related to the BCM Program.
  • Provides advice and recommendations on all aspects related to the business continuity to improve organizational capabilities.
  • Stays up to date with current practices to ensure continuous improvement of the BCM tools and incorporate DRI (Disaster Recovery Institute) professional practices as applicable into the EDC environment.
  • Stakeholders

  • Maintains regular contact with stakeholders internal and external to EDC in the area of business continuity management for the purpose of relationship building and sharing best practices.
  • Supports the process to identify and mitigate impacts of vendors that provide time sensitive services to EDC.
  • Tool

  • Supports development and maintenance of the tools to administer the BCMP.
  • Maintains a centralized process to store and maintain BCM related documents.
  • Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline.
  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) certification or other relevant certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a risk management role with a focus on business continuity, including business continuity planning for organizations within financial services or with international operations, or related experience.
  • Working knowledge of Business Continuity, technology disaster recovery, health and safety regulations.
  • Assets

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Experience with Service Now BCM Module
  • Salary Range :

  • Bus. Quality Process & Risk 17 : Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $83,037 - $110,717 plus performance-based incentive
  • Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto / Mississauga, Montreal / Brossard / Laval, Vancouver, Halifax, or Calgary.
