Sales Manager

Our client is shaping the future of building materials through innovation and excellence. With a long history of quality products, this leading manufacturer of building materials is seeking a Sales Manager to support their distribution channel, manage customer relationships, technical support, and contribute to the company's ongoing success.

As a strong leader and people manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the inside sales team and supporting sales activities / growth.  You will lead by example, engaging the team and gaining buy-in to execute on the company vision. Your leadership will include setting targets and goals for the team, measuring performance, supporting, coaching and mentoring to consistently drive sales by delivering high-level customer service.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

Oversee Sales Team and manage day-to-day activities which includes :

  • Manage the Inside Sales Team and support outside sales activities
  • Create a plan for each customer, identify opportunities for developing business, analyze performance and implement strategies
  • Handle inquiries, and request for quotes through phone, email and the on-line ordering app
  • Identify customer needs and offer solutions based on specifications and customer requirements
  • Enter orders into ERP system and confirm details with customers and / or production
  • Negotiate contracts, monitor and control the contractual obligations
  • Monitor status of orders and communicate updates proactively to customer
  • Coordinate and communicate with sales, customers, production as per customer’s requirements
  • Collaborate with logistics team to ensure accurate and timely shipment of orders
  • Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and provide effective solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, quotes, and transactions
  • Develop and monitor standards of performance for the sales team including planning, setting / achieving goals, customer conflict resolution, time management, technical abilities, training requirements etc.
  • Enhance performance of inside sales team through mentoring, motivating, coaching, training and continuous improvement.

Requirements :

  • 5+ years’ experience in a sales leadership role in building materials or industrial sales environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration / Marketing or other related field, preferred.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on sales processes; proven ability to mentor, train and develop skills of inside sales team.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, drive, and attitude with high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Customer focused - motivated to respond to a diverse set of internal and external customers.
  • A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures and other operational issues.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Clear communicator - expert listener who is able to express ideas and provide clear vision and direction both verbally and in writing.
