As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project.
The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.
This Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Internship position based at the Office located in Toronto and be reporting to the EHS Project Manager.
EHS internship position may be a Coop 4 months-16 months term and will play a role assisting the local management with day-to-day administration and continuity of the Health & Safety Management System and Environmental Management System.
The key responsibilities and accountabilities include but not limited to the description below :
Administrative Duties
- Ensure an updated digital and non-digital safety information board
- Preparing attendance lists and meeting minutes for various meetings
- Prepare Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings packages and minutes
- Supporting EHS training bookings, scheduling, facility arrangements
- Assist to maintain employee training proof of training, training expiry, and training matrix
- Assist in the planning and development of events ( safety stand down meetings, EHS campaigns, environmental & sustainability initiatives).
- Assist in preparing various monthly KPIs, monthly reports, statistics
- Supporting desk and field audits
- Respond to EHS general inbox and inquiries
- Follow up and electronic archiving all EHS documents
- Support the EHS team in all administrative tasks where necessary
Office Health and Safety
- Assisting in EHS in the office inspections (ex. First aid kits, fire extinguishers, AED, etc) and risk assessments
- Participation in the Project JHSC, mental health committee and other Alstom initiatives at the Project;
- Participation in improving office ergonomics;
- Develop and transmit EHS short communications, newsletters etc.
- Occasional site visits / safety inspections for professional development / program understanding
- Supporting office staff in all EHS and Sustainability matters
PPE & Safety Supply Inventory Management
- Support all teams in PPE and Safety Supply Inventory procurement : sourcing; receive, store, monitor inventory; and providing PPE to workers
- Monitor PPE and Safety Supply Inventory for annual recertification
Competencies :
- Must be Coop Student (4 months-16 months), Mandatory
- Experience in Construction industry, Considered an asset
- Excellence in Microsoft Office Suites and agility to learn and use other software systems, Mandatory
- Knowledge of Canadian EHS legislation, Considered an asset
- Developed soft skills : takes initiative and a self-starter, teamwork, people skills, oral and written communications, service-minded.
- Responsible and honest
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task;
- Currently completing education at a Canadian university / college, Mandatory
You have a strong interest in EHS excellence? You have rigor, excellent knowledge of OHSA and Regulations, and how to apply them.
Good written English and show initiative? Familiar with Sharepoint and Aconex an asset or willingness to learn. You want to be part of a dynamic team while contributing to a significant project for the Go Expansion project?
