Reporting to the Partners of the firm; the successful candidate is expected to play a leadership role within the company on all financial matters. The Controller spearheads the finance and accounting operations, playing a pivotal role in delivering insightful business counsel to the Partners.
What you’ll be doing :
- Manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and payroll.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights into the firm’s financial performance.
- Coordinate the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Collaborate with partners to analyze financial data and support strategic decision-making.
- Supervise a team of admin / accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
What we’re looking for;
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation is preferred but not a necessity.You have a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience from a professional services environment.Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.Proficient abilities using various financial software including Quickbooks, Microsoft Systems (Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat)Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.At Venor, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.
