The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a critical role in safeguarding our client's long-term financial sustainability. This includes establishing robust financial controls, monitoring compliance with internal policies, and championing transparent and accurate financial systems across the organization. Acting as a strategic partner to the CEO, the CFO collaborates with department heads to guide both daily operations and forward-looking financial initiatives that align with the organization's overall mission and objectives.

Compensation : $125K to $135K (Open for discussion / dependent on experience)

Within this senior leadership capacity, the CFO has a broad range of responsibilities that balance day-to-day oversight with long-term planning while mentoring a team which consists of a financial controller, accounts payable specialist and finance coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy and Policy - Develop and enforce the organization's financial policies and procedures, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and best practices while maintaining a finance calendar to identify and track key reporting deadlines, audits and other financial milestones.
- Budgeting and Collaboration - Collaborate with the CEO and others to create and adjust annual budgets in alignment with operational needs and strategic goals. Track financial initiatives and be the resource to provide support and address emerging challenges.
- Financial Operations - Supervise accounting staff, assist the finance team with monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes in addition to reconciling asset and liability accounts. Oversee funding agreements, prepare financial statements and monitor budgeting.
- Reporting and Compliance - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, support management with their Indigenous Services Canada reporting, coordinate interim and annual audits collaborating with external auditors.
- Training and Capacity Building - Train teams in budget monitoring, conduct quarterly team reviews, provide support in refining budget processes.
- Site visits and Ongoing Support - Conduct on-site visits as necessary to offer hands-on assistance, reinforce financial best practices and address real-time operational challenges.
Requirements
A master's degree (M.Sc.) in finance, or an MBA in a relevant financial discipline is preferred.A CPA designation, up to ten years of experience in a senior financial management role, expert in budget oversight, financial reporting and regulatory compliance.The ideal candidate is highly organized, meticulous, and adept at managing multiple priorities with limited supervision.Proficiency in SAGE and Microsoft Office applications is expected, alongside a robust foundation in accounting principles and an aptitude for analytical thinking.Effective time management and excellent interpersonal communication skills enable the CFO to foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders, from accounting staff to executive leadership.A vehicle is required for this role as this is a rural location.Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.Don't miss out on this Chief Financial Officer position in Vancouver Island (West Coast).
