Water First Education & Training Inc. is a non-profit organization in Canada, addressing water challenges in Indigenous communities through education, training, and meaningful collaboration.

Founded in 2009 to help bring drinking water resources to schools in Uganda, Water First began working with Indigenous communities in Canada in 2012 and dedicated our work exclusively in collaboration with Indigenous communities in 2016.

Our work is focused on program delivery in three key areas : Drinking Water, Environmental Water, and School Water. We ensure that the programming we offer aligns with the goals and needs of the communities we work with, from 15-month internships and high school credit courses, to multi-day programs and summer workshops.

By focusing on technical training and education for youth and adults, Water First aims to support capacity building, and sustained access to safe, clean water in Indigenous communities across Canada.

Trainers, program delivery specialists and support staff work in the field, remotely, and at our head office based in Creemore, Ontario.

Working in collaboration with community partners, board members, and an Indigenous Advisory Council, Water First puts meaningful relationships and trust at the heart of our work.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Internal Operations will be responsible for optimizing Water First’s strategic and operational management tools, in alignment with the organization’s strategic vision, focus areas, three-year plans, professional values, and strands of success.

The position will be an integral part of the senior management team that drives and helps achieve the overall strategy for the organization on a local, regional, and national basis.

The Senior Director will develop a deep knowledge of all departments, optimize organization-wide systems, enable effective cross departmental collaborations, and ultimately develop streamlined and effective internal management processes that consistently enhance both the organization’s overall efficiency and program results.

As the ideal candidate, you are a collaborative and strategic operational leader who is comfortable working in an organization with a growth mindset and excel in a build-the-plane-while-you-fly-it’ environment.
