The Vice President, Online Experience is responsible for CFIN's website, YODL and the overall online presence CFIN presents to the world. Based in Canada, the ideal candidate has demonstrable success building and monetizing online communities and is comfortable working at the intersection of data and experience. You understand how to produce and deliver high quality, engaging B2B digital content and creating tools that solve problems, and you love analyzing data to identify trends and business opportunities.

This is a full-time position starting in April 2025 . The successful candidate will receive comprehensive benefits and 4 weeks paid vacation and up to 5 paid sick days annually. The role reports to the CEO and works closely with marketing, membership services, revenue generation and programming departments . While this role is remote first and you will mostly work from home, travel will be required.

What you'll be doing :

CFIN believes that a network of food innovators will increase productivity in the food sector. We specialize in helping to break down innovation barriers to hasten the commercialization of foodtech and its adoption in the food sector. While our funding programs support specific commercialization projects, for most Canadian food innovators our online YODL platform is the epicentre of this activity; and, it is catching fire, attracting 150 new members per month! This member's only platform is intertwined with CFIN's website so the VP Online Experience will need the skills to steward both a satisfying public-facing online experience as well as a vibrant private online community.

Specifically, you will

  • Own the digital road map for CFIN's online presence and ensure it reflects outcomes such as encouraging visitors to convert to members and the optimization of member experience that results in increased member satisfaction, retention and engagement rates.
  • Manage key venders to ensure that CFIN is optimizing the use and the implementation of tools and features available to us based on our various licenses and relationships.
  • Build and lead a team that will include technical resources who will help to integrate and build new online features and tools as well as the creatives responsible for day-to-day YODL community activity and content engagement.
  • Translate overall CFIN organizational strategy into content and online activity strategies.
  • Create and build out a YODL monetization strategy designed to drive the platform toward financial sustainability.
  • Collaborate with other departments to co-create a viral membership growth strategy?that will drive CFIN membership forward in line with the organization's Strategic Plan.
  • Share data and insight with other departments to help guide them as they develop and deliver strategies, revenue generation products and services, funding applications, etc.
  • Contribute, as part of the senior leadership team, to the development of organizational strategy, participate in meetings with government, the Board of Directors, and leaders of the food sector community.
  • What you bring :

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.?
  • 10 years of experience in community building, communications, social media or other relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience building, running and monetizing a multi-modal or omni channel digital platform in digital communications, social media or another user centric concept.
  • Experience managing a technology product or a digital journey end to end, from inception to delivery Fluency in the technical language required to work with professionals who build and integrate technology into online products.
  • History of using data and insight to create unique products and services.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead end-to-end integration / API partnerships, from identification, structuring, negotiating, closing, managing, and scaling.
  • Technical proficiency with integration partnerships, including understanding and shaping product roadmaps to meet customer and partner needs.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing diverse groups of staff, preferably in a remote or hybrid setting.
  • Successful track record of operational leadership through a period of growth and change.?
  • Business and financial acumen in assessing business plans / project proposals.?
  • Well-developed negotiation skills.
  • Highly developed creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style with an ability to synthesize diverse information into new approaches.
  • Experience in the digital content creation sphere and / or experience using content to engage communities and drive businesses forward.
  • Able to represent CFIN and act as spokesperson for the YODL community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.?
  • Ability and willingness to travel within and outside of Canada when necessary.
  • Also beneficial :

  • Fluency in both English and French languages is a significant asset.
  • A good level of knowledge of the structure and functioning of Canada's food ecosystem, including an understanding of the complexity of the food industry.
  • Experience presenting to government and / or a Board of Directors.
