The Director, Organizational Development is a senior member of the HR team, responsible for developing a framework for employee engagement and learning initiatives aligned with the strategic goals of the university. These initiatives include onboarding and offboarding, employment branding, employee engagement, leadership and professional development, evaluation, performance management, and succession planning.
The Director oversees professional development initiatives to ensure consistency and attainment of strategic objectives, creating synergistic partnerships and collaborations between managers, employees, and other stakeholders, including the Faculty and Staff Association, to facilitate achievement of the University’s strategic plan.
The goal of these initiatives is to foster a durable and dynamic community of employees who are supported in their work by providing transformative programs and pathways for their professional development, engagement, and inclusion.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in human resources, organizational development, or psychology.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an Organizational Development related capacity and 3 years’ people leadership experience.
Public sector and / or post-secondary work experience is preferred.
Change Management certification is preferred.
Training or education related to adult learning is preferred.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound and reasoned decisions.
Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of self-motivation and acumen.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, email, and the internet.
Create and implement plans - shape, align, and execute the strategic priorities to meet student and community needs.
Lead change - Remain flexible, adjusting to changing circumstances and lead positive change by balancing innovation and calculated risk-taking.
Cultivate collaborative relationships - Build effective working relationships internally and externally and collaborate to achieve mutually beneficial goals.
Inspire and develop talent - Invest in developing yourself, staff and faculty, effective teams, and our culture of excellence.
Make effective decisions - Make sound and timely decisions that benefit UFV in both straightforward and ambiguous circumstances.
