Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Philanthropy, the Development Officer will :

  • Qualifies a portfolio of donors from a larger group of donors and prospective donors.
  • Creates individual goals for each person in the portfolio based on the donor's history of giving and the organization's knowledge of that donor's potential.
  • reates a plan for each donor that will serve as a personalized fundraising plan. Executes that plan on a timely basis to secure donations.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative, supportive relationships with Deans, faculty, staff and key volunteers to initiate, maintain and strengthen relationships with donors and donor prospects.
  • Participates in alumni and University activities that aim to draw the community closer to the University.
  • Collaborates within Advancement team for gift administration, prospect research, donor communications, web stories, etc.
  • Keeps abreast in the field of fund development through attendance at conferences and maintaining memberships and actively participating in professional organizations.
  • Experience and Education Requirements

    To be the successful Development Officer you will have :

  • Undergraduate degree or Certificate in Fundraising Management.
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience, with a minimum of two years of fundraising experience.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Above average interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capability with the MS Office Suite of products and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to organize a diverse array of tasks in order to achieve outcomes in a timely fashion.
  • Experience working with a Client Relationship Management software would be an asset.
  • Willingness to travel.
