2nd Year Powerline Technician Program Students

22.24 per hour)

  • includes 4% vacation pay

Reporting to the Supervisor Hydro Distribution , the successful applicant will be responsible for performing all work assigned regarding the construction, operation and maintenance of the Overhead and Underground Electrical Distribution Systems in the ENWIN Utilities' service area, as assigned.

The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications :

  • Successful completion of a two-year College Powerline Technician program demonstrating passing grades in all courses and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
  • Demonstrated status as an Apprentice.
  • Must be able to carry out the physical work demands of the position in cluding heavy lifting, stretching, climbing, pulling, etc.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills while working with staff and customers in a respectful manner.
  • Must possess and demonstrate mechanical aptitude and produce accurate inspection records
  • either electronically or through the completion of a printed form.

  • Must show initiative and demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions, flexibility of approach, ability to assume responsibility and the capability to perform in a team environment.
  • Shall have demonstrated a history of safe work practices and be familiar with the Utility Work Protection Code.
  • Experience working in a traffic-controlled environment is considered an asset.
  • Must possess a current Working at Heights training certificate and a current CPR and First Aid training certificate or the ability to complete certification prior to commencement of work with ENWIN Utilities Ltd.
  • Proof of enrolment of the IHSA Level 1 Powerline Technician Apprenticeship Training Program
  • Preference will be given to students possessing a valid Class "A" driver's licence with a "Z" endorsement and to those who have successfully completed supplementary training courses with IHSA related to the Powerline Technician program.
  • Students will be expected to provide their own CSA approved work boots, Fire Retardant long sleeve shirts and pants.

    Students will be responsible for enrolment, payment and completion of the Level 1 Powerline Technician Apprenticeship Training Program provided by IHSA, if available. Students are expected to provide proof of successful completion of the Level 1 Powerline Technician Apprenticeship Training Program provided by IHSA, if available, to continue employment through the work placement program with ENWIN Utilities Ltd.
